Sarah McRae Morton grew up in Lancaster County and attended The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and the University of Pennsylvania from 2003 to 2007. She studied figure painting under Nelson Shanks in 2005 and also completed a one year program with The Barnstone Studios in draftsmanship, design and color theory during 2003. Sarah has a residency at Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine for the summer of 2007 .

She has exhibited in the Philadelphia and Lancaster area since 2004 to present. During this time, she was also able to study while traveling in Europe (in residence) with the contemporary artist Odd Nerdrum. Sarah intends to travel and paint her experiences. She is a modern American painter, rooted in European tradition.
